Fun Summer Nites.

TGIF! So glad the weekend has finally rolled around again. I am looking forward to lots of fun things this weekend…including some live music outdoors with the BF, some brunchin’, and a 14 mile long run with my running group! Good times!
But first…coffee…

Last night I went to the Luke’s Locker social run and ran with some of my peeps. It was a two a day running day for me (I had logged 4 miles earlier in the day) so I was in for a little over 3 miles. Got in just around 7.5 miles yesterday! I was happy to get a little bit more in since this past week has been so busy with work and teaching dance class. I am hoping to hit around 40 miles total this week with my mileage…that’s the most weekly mileage I’ve run in quite some time! Exciting stuff.
After the run I met up with boo and we went to a late night pajama/pizza party that Yelp was throwing at a local Italian eatery Olivella’s. I love the Yelp community and there are always so many fun events to go to…the venues often offer free food and beverages, and who doesn’t love that!?

We enjoyed some delicious Neapolitan and Roman style pizzas, mini sandwiches and foccacia bread, as well as some of their refreshing homemade sangria! It was pretty much a carb loading heaven!

I absolutely loved the outdoor patio with the misting fans. It was such a beautiful, fun summer night!

Have a wonderful Friday!
Doing anything fun this weekend? What is your favorite kind of pizza?

Grillin’, chillin’ & gettin’ dirty.

I hope your 4th of July was filled with nothing but wonderful moments and memories with your friends and family! Mine definitely was. It’s amazing how having a day off in the middle of the week can feel a little bit like it’s the weekend already! I am back at work today and getting the ball rolling.
Yesterday, I did some grillin’ and chillin’, and also some trail running! I met up with some of my buddies out at Murrell Park in Grapevine to do some galavanting through the woods. It was crazy packed out there with lots of mountain bikers! We had to stop and let the bikers pass through the narrow sand/dirt pathways so it ended up being a run and hike more than anything else. I also tripped over a few sticks but that’s what trail running is all about right? Gettin’ dirty. Some lessons I keep learning over and over with trail running is that you MUST LOOK DOWN at all times (even if you are engaged in conversation with your fellow running buddy) to avoid tripping or falling over those pesky sticks or rocks! It definitely requires some coordination. Also…carry a fuel belt or camelback that provides you with plenty of water especially in these hot summer months. I learned the hard way…a small 8 oz. fuel bottle is NOT enough, even if you think you are the exception to the rule and don’t practice what you preach at times with hydration.
Guilty.
Anyway, good times were had by all. We logged just under 7 miles out there and it was a BEAUTIFUL morning! I had to stop and get some views of the lake. Such a great view.

Me and Sarah rocking the trails!

Later on in the day the boyfriend threw down on the grill while I did nothing but kick my feet up and get my tan on over at the pool.

Steak, turkey franks, & veggies wrapped in foil

Nothing better than corn on the cob fresh off of the grill!

After a much needed nap boyfriend and I met up with my friend Sharanda and her family to watch the fireworks! I loved the view right off of Lake Carolyn in downtown Las Colinas. Couldn’t have been a more picturesque night!
How was your 4th of July? Did you workout on the holiday? What’s your favorite thing to cook on the grill?
