Last night I set out for a quick run after work. Yes, this morning girl moved over to the dark side due to a crazy schedule yesterday. 7 miles of rolling hills. Definitely not easy but hills are speedwork in disguise so I was determined to conquer them in the crazy heat and humidity.
It helps that I had this gorgeous view. Sometimes I just need a reminder of why I run in the first place.
PR’s are a nice confidence booster…medals are shiny and bling blingy…races are fun and a great adrenaline rush. But at the end of the day…what KEEPS me running is this…
-To chase the sun.
-For the challenge up that hill to make it all the way to the top.
-To compete against MYSELF…and run my fears and doubts into the ground.
-To sightsee and explore.
-To clear my head from the cares of the day.
-For that moment of stillness to talk to God in solitude.
-For the RUNNER’S HIGH.
-For those who can’t.
So tell me…why do you run?

Check out how many calories are in that easter basket…then come to my spin class tonight at 6 PM.
Why run.
It's not a question.
It's a declaration.
But it could also be a question.
My shoes, thrown aimlessly upon the floor, recovering from their last bout on the terrain, are reminders that I must go again.
Why run.
To be fit. To look good naked. To wear sexy lingerie for a stranger, for the man of your dreams. For the one, or many you desire.
I just couldn't help but to reblog this fabulousness...enjoy! Happy running!
Live with Fire.
I stumbled upon this the other day and it really resonated with me…had to share. Enjoy!
Get Pumped Up and 5 Days.
This morning’s run…3.5 mile loop sans the Garmin with my running buddy in the park. I never get tired of this view.
It was so nice not running with my watch this morning. Since I am tapering for the race this weekend I just plan to do some relaxed, data free runs this week in preparation for 26.2.
I am also tossing around ideas in my head for an outfit to wear…looking at the forecast for the weekend I am thinking this skirt might make the cut.
Possibilities for lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s…should be some fun in store for me come Sunday.
In the meantime I may have to watch this movie a few times to get pumped up…never gets old.
And I am loving these quotes that get dropped in my email inbox daily…keep ‘em coming RW.
5 days til #6.
What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Do you ever run without your Garmin/running watch?
How much importance do you place on tapering/recovery?
Check out this post on all of my favorite ways to get some running R & R.
Inhale, Exhale.
Hello! Hope your day is getting off to a good start. My morning was filled with a little spinnin’ and some runnin’ and gunnin’. It has been a power packed morning. I made a smoothie to put my gear in drive…some fruits, nonfat plain greek yogurt, green tea and honey for a little sweetness. Blended happiness.
My life lately…spin, run, eat, pray, rinse & repeat. I love it.
5 miles on the treadmill this morning after teaching while watching the news. It was a good run.
On the news this morning – we had a 3.0 earthquake last night where I live…
It actually shook my bed a bit and woke me up! Haha. Crazy. Didn’t last long though so I went back to bed.
I had some new tracks on the playlist this morning. This one was my favorite.
The rest of the week will be a little busy on the work side and on the running side! 18 miles on Friday. REST day tomorrow. Should be fun.
Aaand 4 weeks til Cowtown. Pumped. No worries. Like my friend EMZ says…”don’t lose faith – you got this”. Right? Love her.
What is ‘your life’ lately? What’s your favorite scripture…or mantra?
I am loving this lately. Whenever I am worried about what Tom/Dick/Jane are doing or thinking about things that I cannot control…I am reminded of this.
Inhale, exhale.
Have you ever had an earthquake where you live?
This is the second one I’ve felt in the past year…they are a little scary!
Precisely.

17 Miles All Smiles.
Hello there…happy Friday! Weekend here we come.
My morning started rather early today. Good thing I was in bed old lady style by 9 pm. I was up and ready to hit the pavement. 17 miles all smiles.
This was a good run and I felt strong through most of it. I took a couple of stops to refill my water bottle and fuel with my energy blast gummies but that was about it. Kept a steady 9 min/mile pace-which felt really good. The weather was a calm and cool 50 degrees. I love the serenity of a good long solo run.
And watching the sunrise is always a bonus.
Get ready Cowtown, I am coming for you. I ran the half last year (paced a friend to a PR) and this year I will be rocking out the 26.2…my 6th full marathon. Check out my recap from last year’s half here.
Music really kept me going this morning! I played this song about 4 times.
This weekend…I will be celebrating not 1 but 2 of my bestie’s birthdays. This hottie’s celebration is tomorrow night. She is my true blue runner friend. Love her.
Then this girl’s birthday is next week but we will be going out for sushi time tonight. We are Danceaton sistas from back in the day. She is always so fashionable and I want to raid her closet.
What are you doing this weekend? Racing, running, cross training? Who is racing Disney or Houston?
I know this guy is rocking Disney and this rockstar is crushing the H. town marathon. I’ll be cheering you guys on from Dallas.
7 Things.
Not long ago Jade was so sweet to nominate me for the inspiring blogger award (thanks girl!) and I have to say that I am so very inspired by all of the amazing blogs that I read everyday, including hers! Here are the rules~
- Display the award logo on your blog.
- Link back to the person who nominated you.
- State 7 things about yourself.
- Nominate 15 other bloggers for this award and link to them.
- Notify those bloggers of the nomination and the award’s requirements.
So, without further ado…the randomness…
-Candles make me happy. My favorite thing to do when I come home from a long day at work is light up a bunch of candles around the house.
-I love the color pink. It’s my power color! I love working out especially in all things pink.
My pink gym bag…
-My last meal on earth would most definitely be sushi. I really could eat it everyday and not get tired of it.
-I taught dance class as a group fitness instructor for over a year and have now transitioned teaching indoor cycling/spin. I absolutely love it so far!! I discovered I have a talent for yelling at people and getting them all pumped up. It’s a great calorie burner, mental challenge and compliments running perfectly.
-Sunrises invigorate me and energize my day.
-I am obsessed with this pattern – chevron.
-My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas. I love decorating my apartment and cruising around town looking at the beautiful lights.
I would like to nominate these lovely ladies that are funny, talented, beautiful and inspire me in the areas of health and fitness and everyday life –
Thanks for playing!
Marinate On It.
Just a little something to marinate on for the weekend…
“Don’t ever let someone tell you, you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period.”
