Armed and Taper Tips.

This morning’s run…easy 6 miles with some quick sprints in between, 8:40ish overall pace. Felt good to knock it out and be done for the day!
Yesterday, I got armed with the flu shot…boom boom pow! Sickness stay far far away!
My arm was a little sore immediately after but other than that no side effects! I usually try to get the flu shot every year otherwise I always get sick (especially after the marathon, which is when your immune system is totally worn down!) so I want to make sure I’m taking the necessary precautions this year.
Since a few of you I know are also running MCM this year (yay!) as well as other marathons coming up I thought I would post some tips on tapering. It’s taper time around these parts, and I have to say that I couldn’t be happier to be scaling back the miles! I have been putting in the training, the long weekend miles EVERY weekend without fail, and am ready to get these legs fresh and ready for race day!
Good to remember:
Here are some other great articles I found on tapering…here and here.
The countdown clock is up…can’t wait to be flying high on a jet plane in the sky headed to one of my favorite cities…Washington D.C. baby! WOOT!!
What is one thing that you are looking forward to this holiday season? (As for me…definitely THANKSGIVING!) Anyone else running the Marine Corps Marathon (I know this girl and this girl will both be rocking it!) How about NY?!

    • Aww thanks for the nomination! Oh and I love love Turkey Day races. I usually do the Turkey Trot 8 miler here in Dallas but might be in San Fran this year visiting family…maybe will have to find a race there!

  1. DCCCCCC TIME can’t wait to meet you lovely lady! I am seriously jealous and may have tried to score a registration spot in one of the shorter races that day but they were sadly sold out. bummer. I need to get a flu shot, you were smart!

  2. I’m running the MCM too! This will be my first marathon. I had to defer my entry from last year due to a foot injury. I have no idea what to expect. All I know is that I want to finish the marathon in one piece.
