Movies, Recipes, 26.2 – Wknd Recap.

I hit the ground running rather quickly today but I had a little time to slow down and catch up with you all! I hope everyone had a marvelous weekend! Mine was filled with some things I love the most…running, cooking, and vegging out on a rainy evening with my love! I have some fun recipes to share with you too but first we will back it on up to Saturday morning.
My group’s long run was called OFF because of a lightening storm! Since we are safe runners we do not play around in the lightening, so the big wigs decided to call off our official run. Thankfully the group I was running with (most of which are running the Marine Corps Marathon) were only scheduled for a 12 mile recovery run so it wasn’t too much of a loss for them. A few of us decided to stay around and wait until the weather cleared…and by about 6 am the storms were gone! Yay! So we got our 12 mile run in just as the sun started peeking through the clouds.
Next week is an 18 miler (that may turn into 20)…stay tuned for that!
After the run I met up with my running buddy Laurie to talk about our upcoming race! We both ran the Marine Corps Marathon last year (check out the recap here) and both decided we would run it together again this year. We have run every fall marathon together, (including the Chicago Marathon back in 2010) and we also trained and ran our VERY first half marathon together (the DRC half) back in 2009! So it is basically a tradition that we run a majority of our big races together. Love this girl.
After coffee with Laurie I met up with mama to go see the movie Sparkle. If you haven’t seen it I recommend you should! I don’t want to give the movie away but you can watch the trailer here…RIP to my girl Whitney.
Saturday night was veryvery chill and the boyfriend and I ordered pizza and watched Wanderlust. It was OMGhilarious.
Sunday we went to church, heard a rockin’ message and then I did a little bit of grocery shopping. Stocked up on some of my faves…strawberries, cottage cheese and tried this new chicken sausage.
For lunch I was feeling all vegetarian and made this feta and chickpea salad I found on Pinterest. Very tasty and filling little meal, super easy to make!
As the sun was setting I went for a little shakeout run in my pink compression socks. I try to be fashionable sometimes.
I also hit up some weights in my apartment gym. I think I kicked my own butt because I am pretty sore this morning. I did some sumo squats, burpees, wall sits, shoulder/chest presses, tricep dips and then washed it down with some planks/side planks. Hurts so good!
After my little makeshift workout I made breakfast for dinner (Yet again) This time I experimented and made some greek yogurt pancakes. They turned out SO good! Forget what I told you about the cottage cheese ones…I will be making these from now on. Watch out, IHOP!
How was your weekend? Did you cook anything or order takeout? What good movies have you have seen lately?
