Happy Wednesday! Hope all is well in your world. Since I love to make random lists…and I was sitting here pondering…I’ve decided to make a list of some things I’ve noticed over the years with myself and with other MIT’s (marathoners in training)…
-Chillin’ at home on Friday nights become the new cool thing to do! I don’t know about you but Friday nights are strictly reserved for relaxing at home with my feet up and a good movie. No more nights out with margaritas and Tex-Mex. Better to save it for Saturday night after you have logged all of those epic Saturday long run miles!
-Pasta becomes a dinner staple. I love elbow macaroni because it is cheap, easy to cook and I use only a few simple ingredients. My latest fave has been my skinny mac w/ laughing cow cheese. This is definitely my carb loading go-to as of late.
-Compression socks are your best friend. I don’t know how I would be able to get through marathon training without these babies. Those of you that don’t have them, honestly what are you waiting for? Another world of happy compressed legs awaits you.
-You really can’t talk ENOUGH about marathon training when that is what you are doing. Thankfully having friends that are runners helps with this little issue. Not everyone wants to hear about your training, but most that do are extremely supportive from what I’ve experienced. It does help to have a little support system and wonderful running buddies to train with!
-You can’t hear enough positive affirmations and words. It helps me to be able to pump myself up with words of encouragement to keep me motivated when I am in a training season. For me this also means surrounding myself with only uplifting things and getting rid of whatever (or whoever) it is that is bringing me down.
-Your running wardrobe becomes more fashionable than your real clothes. I am loving all of the hot new running skirts and neon running shoes. Half my closet is filled with nothing but running swag!
-Pretty much every new, relatively fast song I hear on my Pandora or on the radio I think…that would be a GREAT song to run to! And immediately add it to my running playlist.
-Water and electrolytes are now your new best friends. I don’t know what I would do without my trusty eco free bottle at work. It stays stocked throughout the day.
-Your feet are not quite as girly and beautiful as they used to be. Black toenails are now the hot new fashion trend. Thank goodness for dark nail polish!
-You can’t stop reading blogs and seeing what everyone else is up to with their training.
-You love the RUNNER’S HIGH…seriously why hasn’t this stuff been bottled up yet?? Especially the reason why I love running in the mornings before work. So I can ride that high all the day long.
What are some of the things you LOVE (or don’t love) about marathon training?

Runner’s high is the best!
“Pink tutus make you faster.”
Hahaha! Love!
They also make one practice vinyasa yoga more intensely!
