Like a Kid Again & Some Things I Learned.

Well hey there! TGIF! My day kicked off into high gear this morning bright and early. Yes, like, I was up with the sprinklers in the dark early. My alarm went off around 4:30 and I was out the door at just before 5 am. Since this wknd will be so crazy (thought I had to do a shoot for work, but it was postponed, and the boyfriend’s birthday festivities will be ALL day Saturday) I decided to squeeze in my long run right before work. That’s right, 13 miles. No biggie. It was nice though, I got to see the sunrise from start to finish.
Here are some fun things I learned along my run this morning.
-Gummy bears can be a great way to fuel your runs. You can buy them for just under a dollar at Walgreens, and that’s much cheaper than GU. I like these because they have real fruit juice in them. Healthy, yes? Mmmhmm I thought so.
-You know you are officially one of those ‘crazy runners’ when the thought of running in circles around your lit up apartment complex for more than 8 miles sounds fun does not intimidate you. Music definitely makes it more enjoyable when you are running solo, plus you can stash your water at your front door and stop every few miles to fill ‘er up.
-It’s nice to break up your long run in your head, it makes the mileage go by faster. I went around my complex for about 8 miles until the sun started rising, then went out into the neighborhood to do my 5 mile loop. 13. Boom. Done.
-I can totally see how people that don’t work run long all the time during the weekdays. I would totally do that if I didn’t have to work. I bet it’s nice, and peaceful. But for this working girl, NOT so easy. But doable. You just have to set your mind to do it (and get up at the butt crack of dawn)
-Having fun pink shoes to run in makes it more fun.
-My favorite station to listen to on Pandora is the David Guetta station when I’m running. Hands down. I’m starting to like the crazy techno music.
-It’s funny to watch the walkers as you come up from behind them as you’re running. They turn around creepily and look at you, startled, like you’re about to mug them or something. I can’t say I don’t blame them…
-People are quite friendly in the mornings. Some look like zombies, but most are friendly and cheerful.
-Running through the sprinklers is a bit rejuvenating. Makes you feel like a kid again.
-After running for a long time by yourself you start to get a little loopy. Dancing, talking to yourself, and singing helps.
-You can do anything you set your mind to. ANYTHING. Never underestimate yourself.
Feels good to get it done!
This weekend I am teaching dance Saturday morning, then the boyfriend is having his birthday bash at Sfuzzi’s in Uptown Dallas. If you ever go there, you must try the organic veggie pizza, it’s delicious!  I am looking forward to partying it up with him and our friends!
Cheers!

Happy Friday!
Who is running this weekend? Any fitness instructors out there? What is your favorite topping to put on a pizza?

  1. I love the gummy bear trick instead of using gels all the time! My boyfriend thought I was crazy the first time I brought a bunch with me but now he does the same thing :)
