Hello happy people! Here we are with another week. I will be getting the ball rolling over here at work but just wanted to check in with you guys! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!
Today is a cross training day for me. This morning’s little express workout consisted of some tabata fun! I did this workout I discovered online, and then added some ab work at the end.
I love saying the word doing tabata, the high intensity intervals get me all hot and sweaty and gets my heart pumping FAST!
It also helps to have weights handy in the apartment…just goes to show you can get your workout on anywhere and everywhere, and not pay a dime! It felt good to bust it out this morning.
As for the weekend, it was was busy as usual, but I still set aside time for some fun! Saturday morning I coached my running group for our marathon training run. 12 miles for breakfast! It was a humid, breezy morning, warm as usual but the cloud cover definitely helped! We also threw some drills and stretches in there. After the run I went to my mom’s house. She whipped up a yummy breakfast. It’s pretty much a tradition that I have to have some of her homemade grits and turkey sausage after a long run. Well deserved I would say. So yummy.
That afternoon I agreed last minute to help out a friend sub her dance class over at 24 Hour Fitness in Murphy. It was so fun! I was a little nervous that I would be too tired to teach it after the long run but I was seriously running off of fumes! The class was packed and full of ENERGY. I love doing the “graffiti” song and dropping down to the floor. Droppin’ it like it’s hot burns lots of calories, in case you were wondering.
After a sweaty dance class and a long run I went home to meet up with the boyfriend. We went to a free event hosted by Yelp at this Caribbean joint called The Island Spot! We had free tastings of their jerk chicken, rice and peas, mini jamaican patties, and their famous rum punch! The punch was so delicious. I will definitely be coming back here soon!
Saturday night was a very chill night. After ripping and running the entire day, I definitely needed it!
Sunday morning, I ventured out bright and early in my ‘hood for a 4 mile recovery run. I took it real easy and just enjoyed the morning. I love doing shake-out runs like that, it helps me bounce back after those long training runs.
After church, mama and I went to go see Magic Mike! I tried to ask the boyfriend if he wanted to go, but he politely declined.
It was a cute movie, not a huge plot there obviously, but I enjoyed seeing Channing Tatum prance around on stage. Fosho.
That was my weekend! This week I will be taking some dance classes and rocking my running workouts. And the boyfriend’s birthday is TOMORROW! I am looking forward to spoiling him rotten.
How was your weekend? Have you ever done a tabata workout? Who has seen Magic Mike??

Tabata work outs kick my butt! We did some of that this morning in boot camp.
Hi Reba! Yes, love me some tabata. Need to do more of it!!
