Hills for Breakfast and Some Fireworks Action.

Breakfast this morning consisted of some hill repeats. Oh hills, how I’ve missed you so. Running 4 hill repeats back to back sure makes for a quick & sweaty workout. It was tough but I got through it!  It was a nice and cool 79 degrees when I finished. With my warm up and cool down included I made it to 4 miles. Not so bad.
What are everyone’s plans for the 4th of July? I am really NOT a huge fan of this whole holiday in the middle of the work week thing, but I’m trying to pretend it’s Friday so that’s helping a little.
Tonight I will be teaching dance class followed by who knows what afterwards!? I like spontaneous holidays where I have nothing planned and leave it all to chance. Maybe a little bit of fireworks action with the boo and some friends! Last year the boyfriend and I went to the FC Dallas game and enjoyed the fireworks there. Fireworks are always a must for me…makes me feel like a kid again!

Last year’s fireworks show – FC Dallas game/Pizza Hut Park

Last night after Sharanda’s dance class I went to the store to whip up some funfetti cake dip I found out about from this girl. I used the Light and Fit vanilla yogurt and some lite generic brand cool whip. Just 3 ingredients and SUPER easy to make!
I literally just dumped the ingredients into this heart pan and called it a day. Isn’t this the cutest pan ever?
The dip was yummy especially after I put it in the fridge overnight! I had a little this morning before my run (shh…don’t tell nobody) and it solidified a bit which made it taste even better! Totally a great guilt free treat to make this holiday for your friends and family.
What is your workout today? Favorite 4th of July treat (guilt free or indulgent, doesn’t matter!)
Tell me what you are doing for the holiday!

  1. I love hill repeats. Was going to do them this morning, but I hit the snooze button one too many times. As for a 4th of July treat, I’m going to make the kids some firecracker cookies. And I may allow myself to have one too. :)

  2. holy crap that dessert not only looks simple, but also amazing! gimme that funfetti. it defined my high school “career” haha, or at least the after-school parts of it.

i actually like that the 4th is in the middle of the week because today i’m just chillin’ and thursday/friday will feel like a monday/tuesday – then it will be the wkend!

i found a good route in my town that has some TOUGH hills. ran it last sat and felt great after so think i will do so again this sat!

  3. Hey Chels,

I just wanted to say I am your number one fan here from Los Angeles/New York City, depending on where I am. I read your blog all the time on my phone and I am really bad at getting here to my computer to say hello and to say thank you for all your post that motivate me weekly to do what we do out on the pavement. Besides the motivation I thank you with all my heart for your constant support with my blog and I really appreciate it so much. I am getting ready to get back into NYC for quite some time soon so if you are ever in town, make sure to let me know so I can take you on some great runs around the city. Continued success in your training, racing and stories.
    Your friend,
    Ryan

    • Ryan, you are so awesome! I am just now seeing this comment for some reason. I bet running in NYC is beautiful – I will definitely be in touch should I make it up there for a run!! Keep on inspiring others and loving the run!! :-)
