Nothing says ‘Good Morning!’ like a nice tall glass of iced coffee. I went to the drive thru of America’s favorite restaurant this morning for my coffee fix. Yep, McDonalds…gasp! OMG did she really just say she went to McDonalds!? I surely did.
Want a tip? Order it PLAIN Jane, with no ‘liquid sugar’ and NO cream…then add your own fixins for less calories. Liquid sugar sounds kinda odd anyway, no? I thought so.
I loved your comments on my last post…I think you all hit the nail on the head about avoiding the ‘comparison trap’ that we sometimes see among competitive runners. What I love the most about being in a running GROUP is that people are so supportive and encouraging. I love the camaraderie among runners and think it is important to develop bonds with people that share your common interests. My homegirl Janae pinned this last night on Pinterest (totally obsessed with that site) from Kristen Armstrong’s book ‘Mile Markers’ and it really struck a chord with me:
I have built so many lifelong friendships with so many amazing people over our love of running, and for that I am so thankful. All ages, races, different backgrounds. Love how one sport can bring people from so many different walks of life together.

Last night I taught dance class at the 24 Hour Fitness gym in Murphy. We did lots of hip hop and I mixed in a little salsa music. They especially love the ‘Sweat it Out’ song, so I made sure to put that song on my playlist. It’s one of my faves.
I also love dancing to this song…it makes me feel like I’m on vacation in the Caribbean somewhere.
Tonight I will be trail running it with some of my Luke’s buddies! I am excited to get back on the trails this evening…it’s been way too long since my last trail run.
What kind of workout are you doing (or have you done) today? Ever tried trail running? What songs are you loving right now?

I couldn’t agree more, us runners, we are all crazy. I dont mind mcdonalds coffe, I do the same thing, order it black and add my own fixings.
It’s delish! And pretty strong!!
I love that runner description! There is definitely an unexplainable camaraderie between runners that is just incredible. My workout this AM was a short swim and run; my workout this PM will be a core workout and bike/spin session. I hope you enjoy trail running!
I agree! It definitely is unexplainable. Enjoy your workouts this afternoon!
I just started trail running and am loving it. I’m training for my first 50K this October in Palo Duro Canyon. Couldn’t agree more about the bond between runners. There’s something about all those hours training together, and sweating, and pulling each other through when it gets tough that builds lifelong friendships and connections.
I couldn’t have said it better myself! The 50K sounds like a lot of fun…best of luck with your training! I will be following along!

since my boss isn’t in today, i’m hoping to skip out on work early and go to step class. shhh don’t tell
it’s so well-choreographed & intense! i like your tip about coffee. it’s true that any coffee, no matter if starbucks or mcdonald’s, can be way unhealthy if you add heavy cream and the liquid syrups! i drink my coffee black but even if i couldn’t handle that, sugar-free syrups or skim milk are a good alternative.
Have you read Mile Markers yet?! If not, DO!
It is one of my favorite books and it is packed full of inspiration.
Every chapter, amazing wisdom! I think it would be right up your alley
Nope, but I’ve heard wonderful things about it! I will check it out
Hi Chels!! love “Mile Markers!” It’s by far one of my fav. running books. I keep it by my nightside & read it almost every evening.
I really hope our paths cross one day. If you’re ever in SoCall holla k?!!
I love running w/frenz when the oppty. arises. so fun! no trail running for me. I don’t like the feeling of gravel/dirt under my feet. Probably not in the cards for me. But, maybe one day.
I’m leaving you this comment before I head out the door for my 1st run in 4days.
I love old-school hip-hop. esp tupac! always gets me pumped!! wish I could dance tho! my daughter doesn’t think the cabbage patch & running man is cool anymore!! can you teach me?! xo
I hope our paths cross one day as well! I know they will
I miss Cali so hopefully I will go back to visit soon! I’ve got to get that Mile Markers book, heard nothing but great things about it. I hope you have a wonderful run today friend! *Hugs*!!
